Seabird Data Internship – COASST (UW)

The Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST), a citizen science program
based at the University of Washington, is looking for 2-5 undergraduate students to assist
with program’s seabird mortality data set. Students working with COASST gain valuable,
hands-on experience with citizen science programs, the complexities of volunteercollected data, and work directly with the program’s research staff. Primary duties include: data entry and tracking, running regionalstatus updates, providing data for weekly emails, collecting additional site (beach) or bird data from volunteers, composing reports on ESA-listed species, presenting at lab meetings, attending the quarterly Pacific Coast field trip.

Please include a statement of interest that contains:

  • applicable background in marine biology (coursework, job/intern experience)
  • experience with data, statistics, data programs (excel, R, SPSS, etc)
  • days and times of availability for Autumn Quarter 2013 (8am-8pm)
