Seacamp Association, Inc., is actively seeking candidates for a Science Program Director. Seacamp is a unique tropical marine environmental education center in the Florida Keys, established in 1966. Seacamp offers a summer camp program for teenagers 12-17, and the Newfound Harbor Marine Institute offers residential programs for elementary, secondary, college and adult groups of 10-200 students. Programs are conducted in labs and in the field on boats utilizing snorkeling, wading, and shore trips with instruction in mangrove, coral reef, seagrass, sponge flats, tide pool, wetland and upland ecology.
This is a leadership position that requires an assertive individual with good supervisory abilities, a “team attitude”, sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities include hiring, training and supervising science program staff, scheduling science courses and overseeing all aspects of the summer science program. This is a seasonal position with potential for full time, permanent employment.
The ideal candidate possesses:
· Advanced degree in marine science, marine education, or related field
· Minimum 5 years teaching experience
· Boat handling experience
· Supervisory and/or leadership experience in residential outdoor education center preferred
· SCUBA certification required
